Why Sejahtera Counsel

The way we work

We believe sound legal advice begins with plain speaking. You should understand every step before you take it.

Written Reports as Standard

Every review and assessment is set out in writing. You take the report home, read it at your own pace, and decide what you wish to do next.

Plain Language Throughout

We do not hide behind legal jargon. Updates at each stage are written so they make sense without a law degree.

No Pressure to Proceed

A review is a review. We do not use it as a route to push further engagement. You choose whether to take the next step.

Pension Law as Our Focus

Retirement and pension matters are our specific area. We do not dilute attention across many areas of law — this is the work we know well.

Honest Outcome Assessments

We share our genuine view of likely outcomes at each stage — including where the prospects are uncertain. You deserve a candid picture.

Your Timeline, Not Ours

We set out the process clearly so you can plan. Decisions are yours to make, and we work to your pace rather than pressing you along.

Not sure where you stand with your pension?

A Pension Rights Review is a self-contained piece of work. You receive a plain written report setting out your position — with no obligation attached. It is simply a thorough look at where things stand.

Common Questions

Things people usually ask

What does a Pension Rights Review actually involve?
We examine the documentation attached to your scheme — statements of contributions, scheme rules, calculation methodology, and any correspondence with your employer or the relevant fund. We then prepare a written summary that sets out your position clearly, including any shortfalls or irregularities we identify. The report is yours to keep and consider at home.
I suspect my employer did not contribute properly to my EPF. Can you help?
Yes. Non-contribution or under-contribution by an employer is one of the matters we handle under our EPF and Retirement Account Dispute service. We begin with a written assessment of the position and the likely paths available to you. If you decide to proceed, we act on your written instruction and keep you informed at every step.
My civil service pension was calculated in a way I don't understand. What can be done?
We can first conduct a Pension Rights Review to assess whether the calculation applied to your pension was correct under the relevant scheme rules. If there is a basis to challenge the determination, we can prepare and conduct an appeal — covering the grounds, supporting documentation, and representation at the hearing if it comes to that.
How long does a civil service pension appeal take?
The timeline depends on the nature of the appeal and the body hearing it. We set out a realistic expected timetable when we begin work and keep you updated if anything changes along the way. We do not make the process feel faster than it is.
Are the fees fixed, or will there be additional charges?
The fees stated for each service cover the described scope of work. If a matter develops in a way that falls outside the original scope, we will tell you clearly before any additional cost is incurred. Nothing happens without your understanding and agreement.
Is my personal information kept confidential?
Yes. Information you share with us is treated with the confidentiality that legal professional privilege requires. We do not share client information with third parties except as necessary to conduct your matter, and only with your knowledge.
